Today, we are excited to announce the first release of Popcorn — the tool that allows Elixir code to run directly in web browsers. It’s an opportune moment to discuss what Popcorn is, how it functions, and the reasons behind its development.

On May 17th 2025, something special happened for the Elixir community. Right after ElixirConf EU, we opened the doors of our Kraków office to host the very first Elixir Contributor Summit. The idea came from our CEO, Marcin, who’d seen how valuable similar gatherings were in the React Native world, and figured, why not try it in Elixir? So, after some great conversations with José Valim and a bit of planning on both sides, we made it happen.

React started out as a library for building user interfaces on the web. But with the arrival of React Native, it quickly proved to be a solid choice for building UIs across platforms. Thanks to its flexibility, you can now use React to build apps for web, iOS, Android, macOS, Windows, terminal, and even some TV platforms.

We are excited to release LiveDebugger v0.2.0, a major advancement in our effort to boost LiveView developers productivity and debugging capabilities. With this new version, we’ve introduced several powerful features designed to make your development process smoother and more intuitive.
